YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be held on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel for Janice E. Gibbs, 79, who passed away Thursday evening at The Inn at Christine Valley.
Janice was born March 30, 1938, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late John and Grace (Foster) Black.
Janice was a 1955 graduate of The Rayen School, a 1957 graduate of Ohio University and graduated with a Baccalaureate in English from Youngstown State University in 1969.
She was a proofreader for Marcus Thomas Advertising Agency for over 25 years.
Janice was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Red Hat Society.
In her younger years, she enjoyed boating, water skiing, motorcycle trips, snowmobiling and motocross racing. Most recently, she enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, antiques, crosswords, reading, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events.
Her family was the most important part of her life.
Janice leaves three children, Andrea Erck of Youngstown, David (Dorothy) Erck of Boardman, and Kevin (Marilyn) Gibbs of Spencer; five grandchildren, Jessica (Larry) Knittle, Erin (Andrew) Lenhart, Amanda Erck, Zachary Erck, and Riley Gibbs; three great-grandchildren, Arianna, Caleb, and Skylar; a brother, Frederick (Diane) Black of Cortland; and two nieces, Julie (Mike) Nolan and Lindsay (Brian) Wallace and their children, Zander and Fiona.
Family and friends may call Monday from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
