BOARDMAN - Dorothy L. "Sis" Slifko, 80, passed away Sunday evening at her home, with her family by her side.
Dorothy was born April 26, 1937, in Turtle Creek, Pa., the daughter of the late Henry and Dorothy (Rush) Hodil.
Dorothy graduated from Brookfield High School. She was a store manager for Minnesota Fabrics. She was also a member of the Youngstown Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Dorothy loved going to the family cottage in Madison and enjoying the beautiful sunsets. She also loved sewing, especially pajama pants and blankets. She even made baby blankets for Akron Children's Hospital.
Her husband, Richard T. Slifko Sr., whom she married April 26, 1958, passed away Oct. 26, 2008.
Dorothy leaves her three children, Richard T. Slifko Jr. of Hubbard, Kimberly (Edward) Untch of Boardman and Dana (Patrick "Lefty") Donoghue of Boardman; and her six grandchildren, Sarah Untch, Kadi Untch, Amy Untch, Nicholas (Brittany) Donoghue and Kyle Donoghue.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Hodil.
Per Dorothy's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
In lieu of flowers, material tributes may take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44512.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
