NORTH JACKSON - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11 am at Our Lady of the Lakes, St. James Church, for Lorraine B. Mondrey, 84, who died peacefully Tuesday morning at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
Lorraine was born Dec. 9, 1933, in Braddock, PA, the daughter of John and Catherine Billy.
She worked as a secretary for the zoning commission and the board of appeals also as assistant zoning inspector for North Jackson Township for 20 years.
Lorraine was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Lakes, St. James Church, where she also sang in the choir. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, especially the Steelers.
Her husband, Joseph Mondrey, whom she married Oct. 23, 1954, died Sept. 29, 1984.
Lorriane is survived by three daughters, Pamela Mondrey (Tim Berndt) of CA; Eileen (Mark) Novotny of Cortland and Carol (Ken) Sukalo of Toledo; brother Eugene (Georgetta) Billy of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren Brian (Kate) Novotny, Daniel Novotny, Mark Novotny and Joanna Novotny; and her great grand-daughter, whom she adored, Nora Novotny.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and several siblings, including her sisters, Joanne and Flo and brothers Elmer and John.
Family and friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, North Jackson Chapel, and Monday from 10 to 10:45 am at the church.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to St. James Church, 50 Rosemont Rd. North Jackson, OH 44451 or to the North Jackson Police Department.
