William Toohey

Boardman - Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 PM at the Higgins -Reardon Funeral Home Boardman -Canfield Chapel for Mr. William D. "Bill" Toohey Sr., age 78, of Boardman who died Tuesday morning at his residence.

Bill was born January 18,1938 in Youngstown a son of Edward F. and Anna Mae (Ashton) Toohey.

He is a 1956 graduate of South High School and was an Army Veteran serving at Fort Knox.
Bill had been a driver for Boardman Township road department following thirty years as a crane operator for U.S. Steel. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Mahoning Valley Gaelic Society, in which he received the Mahoning Valley Gaelic Man of the Year. Bill was also active in the AOH and served many years as a trustee. He was the cofounder of the Youngstown Road Knights and volunteered many years on the committee for the Pete Gabriel St. Patrick's day parade. Bill never liked to get presents, rather he preferred the money to be given to the Second Harvest Food Bank or to St. Jude's Children Hospital. He had also loved Notre Dame football.

Bill married Robalee Yeager on September 17, 1960 and she died May 11,1986.

Bill leaves his two sons William D. (Kim) Toohey Jr. of Austintown; John (Cindy) Toohey of Canfield and two granddaughters Cailan and Kiera Toohey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his sister MaryJane Wade and his brother Edward "Bud" Toohey.

Friends may call Thursday from 4:00- 8:00 pm and on Friday from Noon till One at the funeral home.

It was Bill's request to have any donations to be made to the Second Harvest Food Bank, Youngstown.
