Steve Dolasinski

d. January 25, 2017

Thirty-two years ago, a young man from Chicago fell in love with a beautiful woman from Syracuse.
They had grown up apart, but instantly knew they belonged together. The love Steve had for his wife was surpassed only by the love he had for his children.
Steve Dolasinski, beloved husband of Debi Mathews and proud father of Amanda, Lisa (Pete) and Steve (Klaire), passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
Steve grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor's of Science in Engineering Graphics from Illinois Institute of Technology with honors and worked as an executive engineer for 37 years.
As part of his work, Steve traveled throughout Europe, Asia and South America.
He met Debi, the love of his life, while working in Syracuse, and they were married for 31 years.
His proudest moments were spent with his family.
Steve worked hard to put himself through college, and his children, who are all graduates of The Ohio State University.
Steve never missed any of his children's sports games, band concerts or Boy Scout trips.
He patiently taught Amanda how to drive and ventured all over Pennsylvania to help her purchase her first car.
He traveled to Italy to visit Lisa during her first trip abroad and enjoyed seeing the Coliseum and eating local cuisine.
His son enjoyed working on the house with him, including wiring lights and constructing lattice in the backyard. He taught his son not just how to use tools, but the value of hard work.
He never hesitated to help his children move for school and their careers across Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, South Carolina and North Carolina.
Steve was a loyal Chicago Bears fan. He was thrilled to see the Cubs win the 2016 World Series.
Steve also cheered for the Buckeyes and attended a football game with his oldest daughter at The Ohio State University.
Steve loved to golf, relax on the beach, read spy novels and watch Western movies.
A true Chicagoan, Steve enjoyed cooking Chicago beef and eating Chicago deep dish pizza.
He loved his granddogs, Hercules, Garrett and Tyrion.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his brothers John and George, nephew Andrew and niece Theresa.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Prayers will be held Tuesday at 11:30 AM at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 PM at St. Christine Church. Family and friends may call one hour prior the services from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to display memorials in Steve's honor in his hometown of Chicago and Syracuse, where he began his family. You can make donations at https://www.youcaring.com/dolasinskifamilydebiamandalisastevennicholas-746032.
