BOARDMAN - Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. for Sam Ciavarella, 88, who died Wednesday afternoon at Hospice House, surrounded by his family.
Sam was born Dec. 26, 1926, in Hillsville, the son of Luigi and Jennie Ciavarella.
He attended East High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Sam worked as a tile setter for Your Tile Center and Vince Angelilli.
He is survived by a daughter, Janet (Jim) DeSimone of Poland; two sons, James (Sharon) Ciavarella of Austintown and Anthony (Tammy) Ciavarella of Boardman; two sisters, Rose Peterson of Austintown and Barbara (Gary) Heeley of Florida; two brothers, Jack Ciavarella of Canfield and Jimmy (Theresa) Ciavarella of Boardman; a sister-in-law, Josephine Ciavarella; 13 grandchildren, Danyell Bright, Dawn Schrader, James Ciavarella, Joseph Ciavarella, Michael Ciavarella, Courtney Ciavarella, Frank Vivo, Sam Ciavarella, Jodi Broll, Anthony Ciavarella Jr., Kristina Heck, James DeSimone Jr. and Nicole Previte; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Sam was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann Halls; two sisters, Mary Giovannina and Lucy Bacho; and two brothers, Joe and Angelo Ciavarella.
Family and friends may call today from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday morning from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel.
