CANFIELD - A private memorial service will be held for Patricia L. Yanek, 74, who died Thursday morning at home, surrounded by her family.
Patricia was born Oct. 11, 1940, in Youngstown, the daughter of Joseph Noga and Bertha (Fulytar) Luebben.
She was a 1958 graduate of East High School and earned an Associate Degree in Nursing. Patricia worked as a LPN at various facilities for more than 40 years, until her retirement in 2005.
Patricia loved being a nurse and was always very compassionate and caring. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crossword puzzles, and most of all, her family. Patricia will always be remembered for being a great mother, grandmother and sister.
Her husband, Norbert J. Yanek, whom she married Feb. 13, 1960, died Jan. 17, 2013.
Patricia is survived by three daughters, Carol (John) Scheckelhoff of Canfield, Chris Yanek (Mark Dineen) of Boardman and Beth (Gary) Perez of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; a son, David (Diane) Yanek of Placentia, Calif.; a sister, Barbara (Gene) Kraynak-Strines of Austintown; and seven grandchildren, Michael, Sara, Eric, Riley, Brooke, Stephanie, and Samantha.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and stepfather John Luebben.
Per Patricia's wishes, there will be no calling hours.
The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to a cancer society of the donor's choice, to help fight and find a cure.
Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel.
