Patricia Chamberlain

July 3, 1929 — April 25, 2016

YOUNGSTOWN - Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Rd. for Patricia M. Chamberlain, 86, who died Monday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Patricia was born July 3, 1929, in Chicago, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Nagel) Cavan.

She was a graduate of Schurz High School and received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois. Patricia was a homemaker and dedicated her life to raising her family.

Patricia was very active and always involved herself within the community. She was a member and elder at the Boardman Christian Church, the Christians Women's Fellowship, social director for AARP, Homemakers Club, Saxon Club, the PTA, an usher at Powers Auditorium and a volunteer at the Rescue Mission. Because of her love for gardening and the outdoors, Patricia often volunteered her time at Mill Creek Park's Garden Center. For many years, Patricia served as den mother for both the Boy and Girl Scouts.

Patricia was married to Richard "Dick" Chamberlain on Sept. 4, 1953, and was happily married for over 52 years. Dick died July 19, 2006.

She is survived by her daughter, Liz (Frank) Kuhl of Sanford, N.C.; two sons, Brad (Jeanette) Chamberlain of Boardman and Keith (Elena) Chamberlain of Waldorf, Md.; a brother, Roger (Nancy) Cavan of West Brooklyn; and five grandchildren, Jessica Chamberlain, Justin and Derrick Kuhl, Brittany and Brandon Chamberlain.

Patricia was also preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at the church.

Since Patricia had a love for nature and gardening, her family prefers flowers, however, material tributes can also take the form of donations to help fund a memorial at Mill Creek Park in Patricia's name.

Having never won anything in her life, the family is happy to announce that Patricia had finally won a gift basket on Saturday, completing her "bucket list."
