Mary Bacha

BOARDMAN - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, officiated by the Rev. Monsignor Michael Cariglio, for Mary J. Bacha, 87, who died Monday morning at the Masternick Memorial Nursing Home in New Middletown.

Mary was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Youngstown, the daughter of Gaetano and Rosina (Carosella) Amicone.

She was a 1944 graduate of East High School, a longtime member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, its Mothers of the Crucifix Society, and will be remembered for her love of cooking and spending time with her family. She worked at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown for 19 years in the Food Service Department.

Her husband, John J. Bacha Sr. whom she married Feb. 14, 1946, died July 5, 1978.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Mark) Leone of Boardman, with whom she made her home; two sons, John J. (Rosi) Bacha Jr. of Georgia, and Thomas A. Bacha of New York; six grandchildren, Gina (Byron) Velichko, Mark Leone Jr., Jaclyn (Bruce) Griffin, and Markus, Erica and Sean Bacha; a great-grandson, Brady Griffin; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Thomas Amicone.

Mary's family would like to thank Masternick Memorial Nursing Home for their professional and compassionate care for Mary and her family during her stay there.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, and prior to the funeral Mass from 9:30 to 9:55 a.m., Saturday, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica.
