Martin Trebus

YOUNGSTOWN - Martin Trebus, 85, died Saturday afternoon at Briarfield Manor Nursing Home, surrounded by his family.

Martin was born Nov. 1, 1931, in Youngstown, the son of Peter and Rose (Dorner) Trebus.

He was a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Martin worked as a welder at Youngstown Steel Door for more than 30 years until retiring.

He was an excellent wood carver and loved to bake. Martin enjoyed living in Florida for six months out of the year for the past 20 years. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a huge fan of the Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians.

Martin is survived by his wife, the former Joann Ellinger, whom he married Jan. 20, 1952; a daughter, Pam (Gary Underwood) Getic of Austintown; two sons, Martin (Diane) Trebus of Canfield and Scott (Lisa) Trebus of Texas; brother Floyd (Patty) Trebus; five grandchildren, Thomas Getic, Jesse Getic, Alison (Russ) Eastman, Michele Trebus, and Haley Trebus; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and four cats whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Per Martin's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.

Because of Martin's love for animals, the family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Animal Charity, 4140 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
