She later went on to become Accounting Coordinator/Supervisor in Payroll and Accounts Payable at Brentwood Hospital, now known as Meridia South Pointe Hospital, and at the Northfield Park Harness racetrack.

In 1987, having qualified as a full-charge bookkeeper, she established "Books in Balance," a company providing bookkeeping, accounting, tax and office services to small business enterprises. She also processed "dreaded" income taxes for H&R Block Tax Services.

Mariann was a member of St. Wenceslas Catholic Church in Maple Heights and the Holy Family Church in Poland.
