Janet Root

August 28, 1937 — May 6, 2018

NEW MIDDLETOWN - Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Rock, 7025 Luteran Lane, in Poland for Janet Marie Root, 80, who died early Sunday morning at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center in Youngstown.

Janet was born Aug. 28, 1937, in Youngstown, the daughter of Wilfred and Mary Agnes Winfield Eisenbraun.

She was a 1957 graduate of Struthers High School.

She and her husband were the owner operators of Roots Grocery in Springfield.

She was a member of the Church of the Rock and had volunteered at the nursery of Victory Assembly in Poland. Always active in the community she was a member of the Springfield Boosters and had worked the concessions for the Springfield Little Tigers.

Janet was an avid Cleveland Indian and Cavalier fan and enjoyed cooking, baking, puzzles, word search and most especially spending time with her grandson and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed the time she shared with her high school friends through their group "The 57 Lunch Bunch". They loved her with all they had and she loved them with all she had.

Her husband, William R. Root whom she married June 21, 1957, died Dec. 22, 1977.

She is survived by a son, William R. Root II and his wife, Terri Cooper, of New Middletown; a brother, Thomas H. (Linda) Eisenbraun; two sisters-in-law, Kay Smith of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Patricia Eisenbraun of Atwater; a grandson, William R. "Ricky" Root III; and three great-grandchildren, Anna, William R. "Ricky" Root IV and Jayden Root.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Matthew David Root; and two brothers, Wilfred "Bud" Eisenbraun and David Eisenbraun.

Janet's family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice and the staff at Northside Intensive Care for their kind and compassionate care during her illness.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel, and Thursday morning from 10 until 10:45 a.m. at the Church of the Rock in Poland.
