James Siciliano

July 4, 1921 — January 19, 2015

AUSTINTOWN - James Joseph Siciliano, 93, died peacefully at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown on Jan. 19, 2015. He was surrounded by his family.

Jim was born July 4, 1921, in Youngstown.

He wed Agnes Ellia on Oct. 23, 1941. He was happily married for 73 years.

Jim attended Chaney High School. He served in the Army during World War II, was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars for valor and bravery.

Jim worked 40 years for U.S. Steel in McDonald, with perfect attendance. He was an avid golfer and recently scored several holes-in-one at Mahoning Country Club, where he was a longtime member. He loved to tinker on cars, garden and had a love of music and sports.

Jim was a loving and caring son, husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife, Agnes; his children, Carol Hoffricter, Nancy Matey, Patti (Terry) Reed; and a son, Jimmy Siciliano. He will be sadly missed by his five grandchildren, Mark Matey, Marni Tamarkin, Jennifer Hamilton, Heidi Matula and Nina Seccula. Jim has 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Popio and brothers Anthony (Donna) and John (Stoogie) Siciliano.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Agostino and Anna Germano Siciliano of Reggio Calabria, Italy; his sister, Christine Kalis; brothers Frank, Paddy and Rocky and Frankie Siciliano; and a son-in-law, Andrew Matey.

Friends and family may call at the the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., with the funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m.
