Dominic Lucarell

AUSTINTOWN - Services will be Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in the Chapel at Resurrection Cemetery, followed by military honors, for Dominic A. (Acri) Lucarell, 90, who died Saturday afternoon at Heritage Manor.

Dominic was born April 29, 1924, in Youngstown, the son of Daniel and Carmel (Acri) Lucarell.

He was a 1942 graduate of The Rayen School and attended Youngstown State University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a radioman, first class, and was a member of the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation. He had worked at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Corporation for 34 years before retiring. He was a charter member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, its Men's Club and served as president, treasurer and a member of bowling league of its Holy Name Society. He was active in the Austintown Pony League as a manager and pop stand operator. He helped to establish and organize the VFW Post in Brier Hill, was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed fishing and camping with his wonderful family. After his retirement, Dominic spent his time at Camp Stambaugh as a member of the Properties Committee.

Dominic described his great moment in life was the day, Sept. 13, 1948, when he married his bride, the former Georgean M. Ross. She preceded him in death on July 20, 2001.

He is survived by three sons, Ross (Janice) Lucarell of Austintown, Dominic (Geri) Lucarell of Rootstown and Christopher Lucarell of Austintown; his grandchildren, Ross David, Nicholas, Danielle and JR, Kristina, Corey, Jacob, Ashley, Larry, Tiffany and Jenn; great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Jarrod, Chance Amaya and Orion; and two brothers, Anthony (Rita) Lucarell of Youngstown and Gilbert (Marie) Lucarell of Hillsville.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel and Danny Lucarell.

The Lucarell family would like to thank Heritage Nursing Home, station 208, for their wonderful care and have requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
