Dolores Vicarel

AUSTINTOWN - A prayer service will be held Friday at 12:15 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman, Canfield Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Msgr. Michael Cariglio at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mt. Carmel, Youngstown for Dolores S. Vicarel, who passed on Tuesday evening at Assumption Village. She went to heaven, a better place, without sickness or strife, to be with her maker, God Our Father, family, friends and her husband of 42 years, Patrick Vicarel who died May 28, 2004.

Dolores was born Feb. 20, 1931, in Youngstown, the daughter of James and Nancy Packard Vechiarella.

She leaves behind her best friend and sister, JoAnn Colla; a brother, James Vechiarella, whom she adored; and her sister-in-law, Lucille. Dolores also leaves behind her only child, Fred A. Reali III of Ft. Lauderdale, who was the love of her life; her nieces, Susan Morgione, Mary Jo Seidner, Patty Longar and Lisa (Jon) Saadey; her nephews, James Vechiarella Jr., William Vechiarella and their spouses, Lynn and Shelia; and her 11 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Dolores was proud to be the first majorette at The Rayen School. She was affectionately know as "Dee."

Her career began at Packaging Corp. of America, a subsidiary of Tenneco Inc., where she worked for 32 years, starting as a receptionist and becoming an office manager. After the close, she worked as a Kelly Girl and then became the Manger of Eagle Supply Company for 15 years.

She loved to cook for her family, especially on holidays, where 40 plus people would attend.

Her greatest achievement was the giving of herself and time to help others. She found that giving time and love for others was extremely fulfilling, as if it was her calling in life.

She was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Friday from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home.
