Arthur Roznoy

October 25, 1933 — July 12, 2014

BOARDMAN - Funeral services will be held Wednesday at noon at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, for Arthur J. Roznoy, 80, who died Saturday evening after a brief illness.

Arthur was born Oct. 25, 1933, in Newark, N.J., to Julius and Elizabeth (Fider) Roznoy.

He was a graduate of Westside High School in Newark, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after graduation, where he played on the baseball team. He was a corporal and served on the bomber squadron in Korea and Japan. Arthur served his country during the Korean War and received many honors, including National Defense, Korean and United Nations Silver medals. After being discharged, Arthur played professional baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals, Farm Team Division for many years.

Arthur began his career in sales at Western Electric, until he relocated to Ohio to marry his wife, whom he met while vacationing in Atlantic City. He was the president of RMI local union and helped negotiate a six-month ending strike for his personnel. He later moved into management at Wean United. He eventually went into sales and spent most of his career in selling industrial oil products for national companies.

He was 3rd Degree Knight at St. Charles Church and a Co-Founder of the Boardman Optimist Club. He spent countless hours helping to organize golf outings for the church's fundraising efforts and was active in the community.

Arthur moved to the area in 1964, after marrying his wife, the former Mary Duponty on Oct. 3, 1964.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Shirley (David) Johnson of Moseley, Va.; a brother, Kennith Roznoy of Wilmington, Del.; and two grandsons, whom he loved dearly, David Matthew Johnson, and Michael James Johnson. He spent most of his time cheering on his beloved grandsons at school and athletic events both in Boardman and later in Virginia.

Arthur was also preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Robert Roznoy.

Family and friends may call Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff at Dr. Mihok's office, the Wound Care at St. Elizabeth, and Dr. Deltore, for all their care and compassion given to Arthur.
